What happens to the bar profits from NSR?

Postby Beth » Mon Sep 24, 2012 1:23 pm

The bar profits from NSR are used by River Legacy towards charitable projects which directly benefit paddlers. They are split into two companies, the not-for-profit events company and a registered charity. The profits the company make from the bar go into the charity.

The money raised from River Legacy's most recent events, including NSR 2012 has gone into the following project:

It has been donated to a scheme to re-instate the bank of the top of the canal where egress allows access to the Dee below Horseshoe Falls. This is a scheme generated by Canoe Wales in conjunction with the landowners Canal & River Trust(Formerly British Waterways). It is widely supported locally but as yet is still in the planning stage. Authority is now being sort to use stone to match the viaduct in the course of the build. This being part of a World Heritage site consideration must be given to make the structures in keeping with this sensitive area.

River Legacy has committed a grant fund to the tune of £10 000. Our biggest award ever. This fund raising will continue this autumn with a series of events. Polzeath, the Big Shakeout, Teifi Tour, and the Christmas Paddle.

Their website currently under reconstruction will soon be on line with a donate button. Now they are divided between a not for profit events Co. and a registered charity they can guarantee your donation to the River Legacy Charity will only go to this and other projects.

Things you can do:
Go to their many events..all run by volunteers.
Volunteer to help with their events.
Donate directly to the funds. (Online soon)

See you at the next event!
