Waterproof Camera's

Postby Jamess » Wed Mar 30, 2011 12:01 pm

Firstly the question to ask is do you want a waterproof camera, or a case that makes your camera waterproof. it could work out cheaper for the first option, but more cumbersome.

for example a waterproof case would be this one from aqua pac. looks pretty decent, and likely to give some good photos.

there are a whole range of cameras out there that are waterproof. my suggestion would be to stick to the manufacturers that make cameras as their sole business.. (I used this when buying my slr. it just means that they are focused on making cameras, not a small item amoungst many...) This maybe difficult doesnt matter.. However, there are many good ones out there.

olympus £119
kodak sport slightly different, but does pics and good qulity vid. £149
canon's one bit more pricey, but its a decent manufacturer that builds good quality stuff. lucy dobs has it. £233
Darraghs one pricey again, but good camera £243
or

go pro with gopro does pics, movies, clever stuff...

Just a few to set you off. be sure to check its waterproofness. the last thing you want is for it to be splashproof or only able to cope up to 1 m. bit pointless in the pool for example.

i'm not hugely knowledgeable on compacts, but ask around the canoe club, lots of people have waterproof ones!!
