Forum rules and how to guide

Rules

  • Abuse will not be tolerated.
  • Pornography, nudity, adult, and sexual contained websites are prohibited. This includes sites that may infer sexual content; links to such adult content elsewhere are also prohibited.
  • Topics or links to sites that include or promote any illegal activity are also prohibited.
  • If you break any of the above rules, it could result in your posting abilities being temporary disabled or a forum ban. Don't complain, you're responsible for your own actions!
  • Please no text speak. Try and keep posts legible.
  • Try to post topics in the correct place. The web monkeys have the power to move your topics if they see your topic is more appropriate in another section of the forum.
  • Have fun and enjoy the forum!


Can't sign up?

  • Ensure your email address is correct and you've entered it the same both times.
  • Ensure your password is between 6 and 100 characters and you've entered it the same both times.
  • As a fight against spam, we have an anti-spam question at the bottom of the registration page. Simply drag the answers to the correct columns.

The club captain sends out a weekly email during term time to let everyone know what's happening. If you're not on the mailing list already, you should be to make sure that you don't miss out!

Posting stuff other than plain and boring text

You can make posts look interesting and easy to read by playing around with their formats. All of the text based format edits can be used by themselves or combined to make something a little more unique. EG.LUUCC


Making text bold

  1. Type what ever fancy words you chose in to the body of the post.
  2. Highlight the text that you want to make bold.
  3. Click 'B' in the tool bar.

Making text italic

  1. Type what ever fancy words you chose in to the body of the post.
  2. Highlight the text that you want to make italic.
  3. Click 'i' in the tool bar.

Just some simple text.





Underlining text

  1. Type what ever fancy words you chose in to the body of the post.
  2. Highlight the text that you want to underline.
  3. Click 'u' in the tool bar.

Changing the size of your text

  1. Type what ever fancy words you chose in to the body of the post.
  2. Highlight the text that you want to change the size.
  3. Click 'Normal' in the tool bar, and choose a text size.

Tiny = size 50.
Small = size 85.
Large = size 150.
Huge = size 200.
You can alter the size to which ever value you choose. For example, some of the headers within this post have been edited to be size 170.

Changing the colour of your text

  1. Type what ever fancy words you chose in to the body of the post.
  2. Highlight the text that you want to change the colour.
  3. Click 'Font colour' in the tool bar, and choose a colour.

Red = #FF0000
Green = #00FF00
Blue= #0000FF

You can alter the colour to what ever you choose. The values are in the order of RGB, where each colour is specified in hex between 00-FF (0-255), where 00 is fully off and FF is fully on.

Quoting a previous post

  • You can simply click the 'Quote' button next to the post that you want to quote. Just type your message after the [/quote].

Alternatively you can do it manually.
  1. Copy and paste the words that you want to refer to in to the body of the post.
  2. Highlight the quote you've just pasted.
  3. Click 'Quote' in the tool bar.
  4. Add the authors name in quote marks if you choose to include it.

And then type your fancy words.



Alternatively you can add the authors name to your quote.

Making a list with bullet points, numbers, or letters


To make a list with bullet point
  1. Type what ever fancy words you chose in to the body of the post, preferably so that each point is on a new line.
  2. Highlight all of the text you want to include in the list.
  3. Click 'List' in the tool bar.
  4. Click just in front of the first word on the first point.
  5. Click '[ * ]' in the tool bar. The first point is now made.
  6. Click just in front of the first word on the second point.
  7. Click '[ * ]' in the tool bar. The second point is now made.
  8. Repeat until you've done every point in the list.

[*]A little bit more of simple text.
[*]And maybe one more line of text.[/list]

  1. Copy and paste the URL for the webpage that you want to link to in to the body of the post.
  2. Highlight the entire URL.
  3. Click 'URL' in the tool bar.

Posting a photo

  1. Copy and paste the image URL in to the body of the post.
  2. Highlight the entire URL.
  3. Click 'Img' in the tool bar.
